What Is Gratitude and How Does It Show?
Gratitude can be defined in a number of ways. Some people describe it as an emotion, or a habit, a personality trait, or even a moral virtue.
The truth is that gratitude is all of these things, but the best definition, according to research published in the journal Psychiatry, may be that gratitude is “the appreciation of what is valuable and meaningful to oneself, and represents a general state of thankfulness and/or appreciation.”
In other words, you don’t have to get a physical gift to be appreciative and show gratitude. You can be grateful for the positive things in your life, physical or immaterial.
