With all the hype around high-protein diets such as paleo, keto, Atkins and so many other protein-centric regimens, one seldom stops to wonder if they are actually eating too much protein. But according to some, it might actually be risky.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a high protein diet means an extra heavy workload on your digestive system that may leave you feeling extra sluggish. Though protein is burned as a fuel in the same way that carbohydrates and fats are, protein digestion is simply not as efficient, working extra hard to release that energy.
