For the naturally curious, kissing is not only enticingly pleasurable, but it speaks volumes without uttering a word. Knowing how to French kiss like a pro (not that way!) can be both a seductive weapon and a way of obtaining information. So, if you’re not sure how to be a good kisser, here are some basic kissing tips to store in your arsenal.
According to the research scientist and author of The Science of Kissing: What Our Lips Are Telling Us, Sheril Kirshenbaum, kissing cannot only offer us clues about our love interest’s commitment level it can also tell us if he or she is a good candidate for reproduction, even though we’re often not conscious of it.
“Because a kiss brings two individuals together in an exchange of sensory information by way of taste, smell, touch, and possibly even silent chemical messengers called pheromones (odorless airborne signals), it has the potential to provide all kinds of insight into another person,” writes Kirshenbaum.
When it’s a good a kiss, (oh, man!), it can be like physiological fireworks comprised of chemicals like dopamine (desire) and oxytocin (the love hormone) tangoing through our bodies. But if that first kiss is bad (ew!), it can lead to chemical chaos in our bodies and thus rejection.
