If you’re worried about putting on extra weight during the holidays, research has some not so great news. Holiday weight gain is real, according to science. Luckily we’ve got some simple tips to avoid holiday weight gain.

A 2016 study from Cornell University looked at year-round weight patterns of nearly 3,000 people over the course of a year, and it found that Americans gained an average of 1.3lbs during the holiday season.

But don’t freak out just yet. With Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s a few weeks away, you have plenty of time to prevent holiday weight gain before it even starts.
