You Can Get Pregnant through Period Sex

For the average woman who has a 28 day cycle, becoming pregnant through period sex is not possible. However, for some women, just because your uterine lining is shedding does not mean you can’t get pregnant if you have sex on your period. According to the American Pregnancy Association, if you’re a woman who has a very short menstrual cycle — say, 21 to 24 days — having sex toward the end of your period can allow sperm to survive in your uterus just long enough to be present for your next ovulation. Use contraceptives to prevent pregnancy through the entire duration of your cycle.
